Hiking in Cindrel: On the Footsteps of the Wilderness

Romania is the shelter of many wild species protected by law. More than 40% of the European brown bears live here. The "Frumoasa" (beauty) Natura 2000 Site” within the Cindrel Mountains represents a European protected area, where you can follow the steps of protected animals like bears, wolves, lynx and capercaillie.
You will explore the Cindrel Mountains, starting from Paltinis (1500 meters) and reaching Batrana Peak (over 1,900 meters). This is an easy hiking level tour which is exciting all year long. You will spend 1-2 hours driving and 4-5 hours hiking, and go from Sibiu - Paltinis – Batrana Peak - Sibiu.
